Adam Cappelli hosts Japanese Estates and Trusts law judges

In November 2007, Adam Cappelli hosted two Japanese Estates and Trusts law judges at Ross & McBride LLP. Justice Noriyuki Tsuboi and Justice Masanori Yazawa were engaged in a tour of Canada and United States, in order to meet with select specialists in Estates and Trusts law. Justice Tsuboi sits on the Nagoya High Court, while Justice Yazawa serves on the Sapporo District Court.
Mr. Cappelli and Justices Tsuboi and Yazawa had a wide-ranging discussion concerning Estates and Trusts law topics, which touched areas such as disputes over estate succession, determination of estate property, and challenging the distribution of property under a will.
The two Japanese judges were on an Estates and Trusts law fact-finding mission at the request of the Japanese courts. Based on the information gathered with Adam and with other Estates and Trusts law specialists across Canada and the United States, Justice Tsuboi shall submit a report on his findings to the Japanese courts. Mr. Cappelli was honoured to have been asked to provide his perspective on Canadian Estates and Trusts law, which shall be used to further the development of Japanese law.
