Monique is an associate in Ross & McBride’s Family Law Group. She joined Ross & McBride after articling at the Family Law firm, Ferreira and Bettencourt, LLP., in Toronto. There, she practiced mostly Family Law while also handling some Wills and Estates matters. Monique was called to the bar in May, 2021.
Monique obtained her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State Law School in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to this, she obtained her honours bachelor degree in Criminology, with a minor in Psychology and Philosophy, at the University of Windsor.
In her third year of studies at Wayne State Law School, Monique participated in the Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic. There, she assisted low-income clients, who were also diagnosed with Cancer, in resolving their legal matters. The Clinic’s areas of practice included: Employment Law, Wills and Estates, Tenancy Law, as well as Social Security benefits and Medical/Disability Insurance.
Monique’s super power is empathy for her clients. In order to provide exceptional legal representation, Monique believes it is important to understand what her clients are experiencing so that she can be a zealous advocate for their interests. Further, as a hearty supporter of mediation and settlement-driven discussions, Monique believes it is important to resolve matters as amicably as possible and is willing to engage in creative methods to do so.
Monique is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and is therefore adamant about providing representation that is inclusive.
In her free time, Monique can be found at her sewing machine or spending some quality time with her family.
